Mont Liausson and Lake Salagou: panorama and swimming 35 km from the campsite

Just 35 km from Camping des Templiers, the Salagou Lake and the Mount Liausson offer a striking natural setting, between red earth, turquoise water and steep reliefs. This unique site is perfect for combining hiking, swimming and a change of scenery, all in an atypical and preserved volcanic landscape.

An ideal day trip, to experience alone, with family or friends, to fill up on fresh air, views and colors.

A lake like no other

Created in the 1960s, the Salagou Lake is today a popular destination for nature lovers. This artificial body of water is surrounded by hills of red ruffles, a characteristic clay rock that gives the landscape an almost lunar appearance.

You can swim, paddleboard, picnic, or simply stroll along the banks. Several natural beaches are accessible all around the lake, some of which are very quiet even in the middle of summer.

Mont Liausson: a breathtaking panorama

Overlooking the lake at an altitude of over 500 metres, the Mount Liausson is one of the best viewpoints in the region. A hike of approximately 2.5 hours round trip (starting from the village of Liausson) allows you to reach the summit, with an exceptional 360° panorama of Salagou, the Cévennes and the Larzac plateau.

The well-marked trail crosses through typical scrubland vegetation and offers several shaded rest areas. A bit challenging but accessible, it's definitely worth the effort.
